For those of you who unfortunately missed one of Birmingham’s biggest fashion shows; it took place on the 21st October at Fazeley Studios. Yes, it was back this year and BIGGER; The Midlands Fashion Designer Awards sponsored by Claire’s Accessories brought light to the city and its fashion industry.

At times, Birmingham doesn’t really get the attention it probably deserves when it comes to the fashion stakes but this year the Midlands Fashion Designer Awards proved to be something different. With some of the regions up and coming designers showcasing their latest collection, there were some spectacular pieces on display.

There were around 200 people that attended, actually it was packed! Everyone was ready to see some of the midlands most talented students & graduates; as well as emerging designers.

As you arrived, you were greeted by the huge open space in the foyer that Fazeley has to offer. Drinks & networking was the main thing on the agenda to start off with; as well as lucky VIP guests receiving goody bags filled with some great things, like earrings from Claire’s, Label M provided the bags.

When we walked into the main catwalk room, the stage was ready and waiting; the seats where all positioned- clearly you could see a lot of hard work had gone into providing a stunning fashion setting for all the guests.

The audience was entertained to a whole 1.5/2 hours of fashion and sure did we ‘LOVE’ it.

By the end of the evening, everyone was inspired and ready for next year’s show…..so hurry up 2012 so that we can attend the next Midlands Fashion Designer Awards.

BUY MY FROCK

On 31/10/2011 by Bonafide Supernova

Article by Stacey Dennis

So, me and Tamara had a trip down to London on Thursday 27th Oct; to check out the Buy My Frock event- part of Buy My Wardrobe’s array of events. Which I must say, I absolutely loved! It was an intimate, inspirational event, full of fashion lovers and women who really appreciate their clothes and their designers. The venue (Home House) just completed the whole experience, with a romantic atmosphere, sophisticated and contemporary surroundings. With champagne and nibbles also available it felt like a night of socialising and women sharing their love for clothes.  The Funky-House DJ gave the event a great feel and vibe.

Being a “High street” girl I have never been surrounded by so many high end/designer labels. From Versace to Gucci to Chanel to Fendi it really was my perfect dream. This event I felt was original and embraced the love and passion for fashion.

The idea was that women could purchase designer items at great prices. Women who owned small boutiques or who wanted to sell their clothes at prices that wouldn’t make your heart skip a beat when you turned over the price tag; where there to showcase their pieces and shopping lovers were there to snap up the items.

There were a few items; I must say were on my wish list and for many other women in the room. But the sheer experience for me was both inspiring and exciting.

I always viewed designer clothes at times over rated and overpriced.

It wasn’t just clothes galore. With the amount of shoes, accessories and handbags in the room, you really didn’t know where to start.

This event was truly a night to remember and I would certainly recommend it to anyone. The price for a ticket is extremely cheap and the prices for the clothes are much more reasonable. A great girly night: where shopping and ‘night out’ are combined.

VERSACE FOR H&M

On 29/10/2011 by Bonafide Supernova

Article by Sam Thodhlana

Have any of you bought the latest Versace for H&M pieces yet? If so, lucky you….there are some amazing items of clothing, Jewellery and accessories! Truly another great collaboration for H&M, with another great designer.

I think my favourite piece has to be this gorgeous dress

I actually want it, like NOW…..can anyone spare £120 or more?? (any offers welcome, send bank details to samantha@yepmedia.co.uk). The print & floral detailing is magnificent and would definitely have you standing out at any event or show- even on a night out on the town. It’s also just the way I like it; body-con fitted and this really suits my body shape.

Here’s the rest of some of the goodies from the collection available now.
