This post is sparked by the Twitter picture which circulated the world of the ‘Twitterite’ (made my own word up), yes if you missed it; it’s the picture of Madonna’s 15 year old daughter Lourdes mimicking her mother in a somewhat raunchy corset; which Madonna was due to wear on stage at one of her concerts.

Now if you’re like me, then you might have thought…..’Big deal!’ Maybe the 15 year old is just having a laugh and to be fair, her mother doesn’t exactly portray the best role model when it comes to not revealing a little cleavage, nipples being on show or touching herself in a very suggestive manner on stage. But it was for our Madge, who soon deleted the picture from her Twitter feed soon after the picture went viral. It must have been a step too far for the 53 year old, who has often suggested that she doesn’t want Lourdes getting involved too young in the media world.
Nevertheless, as I mentioned earlier in my post about the term ‘Role Model’…..what are your thoughts on this? As a mother, do you think you have to show your daughter(s) especially; a side of you which is quite conservative and apply that sense of control over what your children do? Or do you think it can sometimes be hard to control the actions of your teenage daughter, particularly if for example like Madonna…..1: you’re famous, 2: you are well known for being very provocative and sexual in your music and music videos?

The reason why I present this question is because if I had a mother like Madonna (thought….. (Glad I don’t to be honest, love our Madge but I think she needs to tone it down a little but the luxury lifestyle would have been nice- just saying!!)

But on a serious note…..would you be able to respect anything that your mother told you to do with a reputation like Madonna’s? I feel as though she really needs to tone it down a little and then maybe her daughter won’t think she can just do whatever she wants. What it seems like to me, is that Lourdes doesn’t understand why she shouldn’t be adventurous and out-there because all she wants to be…..is like her mum! In a lot of ways we all want to be like our mums, they are our idols; so it’s not any different if you’re a famous parent.
