London Fashion Week has always been the hub for bubbling new talent. Known for our youthful, raw, and brutally edgy sense of style, it’s the emerging designers that sometimes trump the excitement of the bigger names during Fashion’s favourite time of the year.

This season brought spring bright’s partnered with a foundation of blacks, grey’s and whites on the catwalk of Christian Blanken. He introduced sharp tailoring and harmonized these angular silhouettes with a luxury sportswear aesthetic. Leather being the focal base of his collection; he built on it with a multitude of textures, including suede and python.

Jena.Theo’s ‘Hells Angels’ collection outlined architectural inspiration with structural sheer bodices creating a feminine yet strong silhouette over flowing silks and organza. The duo flirted with texture contrast coupling latex and butter soft leathers with glass bead and sequin embellished pieces. Hauntingly beautiful hand rendered tattoo and abstract print of the artist, O.Two was scattered throughout the collection, married with rinsed blacks and citrus tones, revolving around modern and alluring nudes and neutrals.

Xsenia&Olya (Hyperlink Designer: also illustrated print as the centrepiece of their collection, exploring the properties of smoke and water, based on movement. The personal showstopper was Vauxhall Fashion Scout’s Netherland-Born Hellen Van Rees, a playful, innovative collection that uses her signature three-dimensional threaded blocks from her graduate collection squared around semi transparent tweed dresses, elevating the collection for SS13 by introducing rubber coated cotton. Silhouettes reference sportswear like Blanken, but in a more feminine direction with pastel tones. Van Rees literally thought outside the recycled tweed box and nothing gets more fabulous than that.
