Let’s Talk About J.W. Anderson…

So by now you’re all familiar with the name J.W. Anderson right? having achieved commercial success, his capsule collection for Topshop was the single most popular partnership they had ever seen, the collaboration reached sell-out success, and for the first time ever the retail giant had no choice but to restock the most sought after styles.

So there you have it, Anderson embarked on his stylish journey, and season after season earned himself a comfortable home on London Fashion Weeks on-schedule timetable, was crowned a worthy winner of the British Fashion Awards: Emerging Talent, and introduced us to a definite breath of fresh air on the fashion scene. Innovatively juxtaposing the strict rules of masculine/ feminine structure, Anderson has revealed to us, exactly why we should believe the hype. I’ve quickly fallen head over heels for his latest collection, which highlights the endless possibilities of androgynous femininity. With a palette of bubblegum pinks, quintessential feminine florals, and strict knife pleats. Anderson takes a contemporary attitude to 50’s nostalgia and the results are magical.

Jonathon William Anderson is famously known for a clever take on a shared wardrobe aesthetic. Signature pieces often embodying the concept of “Things that can be borrowed from a man to a woman and from a woman to a man.” Appearing to be more in touch with his feminine side for Pre-Spring Summer 2014. When I first laid eyes on his latest collection, it personally reminded me of a super stylish, updated, Grease Lightning ‘look’. Breaking up neutral shades, he uses pink (the colour of the season) and it undoubtedly pays off, the candy coloured hues grab your attention, whilst complementing the reserved neutral tones perfectly.

Fashionista’s are invited to say it loud and proud, in a signature slogan sweater. Statement making clothing should by now be taking pride of place in your wardrobe, but if typography tee’s still haven’t graced your closet, fear not as it’s not too late to invest in some wordy wonders. We’ve already seen the likes of Brian Lichtenberg, Markus Lupfer, and House of Holland embrace the trend. So there you go… it’s official, when it comes to your SS14 wardrobe, nothing should be left unsaid.
