GymTote Review

When you need to go straight from work to the gym, have a handbag, lunch bag, laptop bag and of course 1001 documents in your hand, do you feel a tiny bit stressed out?

Well it always used to stress me out, and I’m pretty sure it stresses all of you out too. Luckily, there’s a solution… it’s called GymTote.

GymTote was founded by Helena Searcaigh in 2012. Fed up of carrying multiple bags to the gym (like me), or stuffing all her kit into a smart tote only for a sweaty sports bra to fall out at a meeting, her hunt for the perfect gym bag turned blank.

When Helena met designer Nicole Kearney, the brand was born. Unique to the market, GymTote looks like a handbag but performs like a fully functional gym bag, with separate breathable and water resistant areas for kit and trainers, a top compartment for handbag essentials and a cleverly concealed upright water resistant water bottle holder.

When I was asked to review the GymTote, I was thrilled. For someone that goes to the gym from work every day and often needs to go out straight after that, this was an offer I really could not refuse. I felt incredibly spoilt for choice when I was looking at all of the different bags on the website, but in the end my head and my heart told me to go with the black Sophia Tote.

It is quite clearly their best-selling tote for a reason, because it comes with a hidden yoga mat section – what is not to love?! But the thing that really sold it to me was the beautiful saffiano finish with elegant gold accents. Not only did it go perfectly with my style, but I couldn’t wait to take it to the gym and show it off.

With such a chic and structured look, the GymTote fits perfectly with your day-to-day look, not to mention saves on the arms! It is easy to store your jewellery, make up, shoes, clothes… well the list seems to go on and on, but you get the point!

This great thing about the GymTote is its simple features, which make gym life that little bit easier. With so many zips, sections and compartments, it couldn’t be easier to pack your gym kit and then pack your other outfit in. My favourite section has to be the little trainer compartment and the top handbag compartment – it’s the main thing I show people when I’m showing them the handbag!

It really is like a magical handbag that has an endless amount of space. I don’t think I’ve ever come across a gym bag that looks so much like a handbag – I guess that’s the clever part!

If you’re an avid gym-goer, then you’d be silly not to get yourself one of these. With so many colours and styles, you’ll definitely be able to find one that is just right for you.

The AW16 range is available from £135 – £170/$225 – $275 at
