Velvet is big news right now, whether its in your wardrobe, on your sofa or an essential in your make-up bag now is the time to invest!
Today I’ll be telling you about Primark’s Velvet Matte lip crayons & why they make great dupes!
Primark are seriously stepping up their make up game lately and their Velvet Matte Lip Crayons are a clear example of why you don’t need to spend £30 on a high end lipstick.
I mean, I know there’s nothing better than a nice new lippy to treat yourself but why break the bank?
Here’s my opinion on Primark‘s Velvet Matte Lip Crayons and how similar they are some of the high end favourites out there…
These are just a few of the colours they have on offer and all of the ones I own.
I have seven of the Lip Crayons and one of their Lip Liner Pencils which is the fourth one up.
I have been pairing this Lip Liner Pencil in Vamp with the Soft Matte Lip Cream in Budapest by NYX.
So onto dupes…
The Purple Lip Crayon is almost identical to Tophop‘s Lips In Straight Ace shade.
If you know the colour, you know how brilliantly bright it is and how striking it can really be. I wear my Purple Lip Crayon on an odd occasion but I almost always get compliments on it and ask where I got it from; people are always surprised that I say Primark. Purple is the second one down and the brightest of the lot!
Another almost dupe is Primark‘s shade of Uncovered which (I think) looks super similar to MAC‘s Whirl and is the bottom shade of my swatches. I love this colour because it’s a sort of nude with a pinky hue. Super girly huh?
If you’re like me and you like to match your lips to your outfit then there is a shade that matches more or less everything. This wonderful shade is Hustle and it is a reddy, browny, orangey colour. It’s pretty hard to explain without showing you so here’s a snap of me pairing it with my favourite polka dot wonder…
This colour is a seriously great duplicate for Illamasqua‘s Glamore Lipstick in the Cherub shade which has a warm coral feel to it.
I love this shade because it’s so great for Autumn; it has an auburn tint but still feels warm yet soft.
The reason I seriously rate Primark‘s Lip Crayons so highly is because they’re so pigmented and they are seriously mattifying without drying out your lips.
I like to use a light lip balm underneath any matte lip product but with these, I don’t need to. They’re hydrating, seriously soft and they last for a good few hours. If you’re looking for something which is really long lasting and has a great colour selection, I’d look at using MAC or Lord & Berry lipsticks or liners.
For £2 a pop, you can’t really complain at these Lip Crayons, they are from Primark after all…
