Last week I was invited to the Britain’s Next Top Model launch party at Village Underground. The night was interactive with a red carpet and guests dressed to impress. I bought my friend Sugapuff along and we were treated to a complimentary make-over by Sleek make-up, a gif booth by Colgate and plenty of cupcakes.
Britain’s Next Top Model is BACK for a 10th season, new to Lifetime, and there have been a few changes…
While everything you love about the show is present and correct, from the shoots to the drama to the dressing-downs, it has also (just like models themselves) had a bit of a makeover. Here’s what (and who) to expect from the brand new cycle.
1. There’s a new head judge in town …
And it’s none other than Abbey Clancy! Yep, BNTM’s most famous export has returned to the show that launched her career, ready to help a new generation of models find their feet. As the runner-up of Cycle 2, Abbey knows exactly what the new girls are going through. But don’t expect her to be soft on them – because the industry certainly won’t be!
2. Say hello to another familiar face…
Fans of BNTM will know Nicky Johnston very well. One of Britain’s foremost fashion photographers, he’s worked on each and every one of BNTM’s cycles, and now he’s back as judge as well as photographer. Nicky has shot more celebs than you can shake a stick at, from Justin Bieber to Lindsay Lohan to legend Julie Walters, so he’s not likely to put up with any diva behaviour from these contestants.
3. Hilary Alexander is back!
You may recognise Hilary Alexander from her stints as a stylist on BNTM in 2005 and 2006 – and now she’s back and turning her hand to judging. She has been a fashion journalist for three decades, and has even been awarded an OBE for her work. Hilary has pretty much seen it all, so will the girls be able to impress her?
4. Abbey’s not the only model on the panel
Step forward Paul Sculfor, who at just 21 became Britain’s first male supermodel after winning modelling competition ‘The Face of ’92’. As one of the world’s most successful male models, he has plenty of wisdom to hand on to BNTM’s wannabes. If only he could share round those cheekbones, too …
5. There’s a whole new batch of contestants
Where would we be without the girls themselves? It’s time to say hello to 15 fresh faces, all of whom are eager to be Britain’s Next Top Model. On top of a whole load of talent, there are some big personalities in the pack – and you can expect plenty of tears and bust-ups in among the hard work. We wouldn’t want it any other way!
The show is exclusive to Lifetime TV and you can catch it on:
