On 02/05/2012 by Bonafide Supernova

Yay…we are back once again with our second Bonafide Supernova event on Wednesday 30th May 2012 and this time it’s themed around Fashion PR.

Titled: ‘The Future of Fashion PR’

Do you have a desire to work within the PR or Fashion industry?

Are you a creative person wanting to know more about the future of Fashion PR?

Our main focus for this event is to discuss the future of PR, in a little more depth the future of Fashion PR and how the industry is developing. It’s also a chance for there to be discussion/conversations regarding how things like, blogging and online media has affected the industry- how it’s making a huge impact with how PR professionals deal with their publicity/promotions.

If you’d like to work in the Fashion PR industry then this event is right up your street, however we would like to point out that this event is open to ALL creative professionals/students & business persons. It won’t just be beneficial for those wanting to get into Fashion PR but it will also provide insight into the future of PR & Fashion industries for: bloggers, designers, make-up artists, hair & beauty, stylists, photographers, entrepreneurs & digital media professionals.

We have a fantastic guest speaker confirmed to speak on the night:

Naomi Mdudu is the editor and stylist behind independent fashion news website, The Fash Pack, one of the UK’s most influential fashion sites focusing on strong editorial features with leading designers and influential industry voices.

Her favourite fashion moment was Burberry’s return to London Fashion Week to celebrate their 25th anniversary and getting career advice from Anna Dello Russo after Michael Van Der Ham’s critically acclaimed debut show.
Naomi also worked as a freelance stylist and journalist and currently resides in London.

So come and listen to Naomi’s career journey and tips/advice on the Fashion PR industry.

We’ll also be confirming the second guest speaker soon!

At Bonafide we also do it BIG- so there will be fabulous food, drinks, goodies & an exclusive Supernova goody bag!!

If you came to our first event you’ll know just what it’s like!

Lastly, we’ll also be raising money once again for the Forgotten Vintage charity- www.forgottenvintage.com  & we’re also asking you to kindly donate 1 accessory item i.e. jewellery, bag, sunglasses etc towards the charity.

They’ll also be a chance to network with many talented individuals!

Tickets are £16.50 to book a place visit: http://bonafidefashionprevent.eventbrite.com/; so see you there!

P.S. If you are wondering why we are charging for this event- unfortunately due to the amount of money we spend on our Bonafide Events we now have to charge for some of them to make sure they are as special each time. This fee covers the venue, food & drinks at the event.  We’ll still be putting on one or two smaller events for free but they won’t be as lavish as the general Bonafide Supernova events!!

BUY MY WARDROBE BIRMINGHAM 2012

On 15/04/2012 by Bonafide Supernova

For the first time ever, Buy My Wardrobe took place in Birmingham on Saturday 14th 2012 at the exquisite Nuvo Bar in Brindley Place. Finally the day had arrived for me to see what the Buy My Wardrobe concept was all about! Getting ready was a little confusing because I didn’t really know what to wear but I tried my best to at least look at least half decent:

It was pretty exciting because Bonafide were lucky enough to get VIP tickets to Buy My Wardrobe which meant I was treated to an exclusive Buy My Wardrobe goody bag & a glass of champagne which went down a treat.

My first reaction was to check out all the items on sale, to see what beauties were available. Though my pocket was empty- yes some of you might be thinking (Oh my gosh, you went all the way to a Buy My Wardrobe event penniless) but I wasn’t about to get carried away though it was very hard. I still had to have a noise at all those designer items and see what all the ladies were eager to get their hands on.

What was interesting was the fact that the sellers stalls had so many great items on sale. It’s crazy to think that some women have such a fabulous wardrobe full off beautiful clothes and accessories.

Unfortunately, I didn’t get a chance to see Beth Goodrham but I’m sure for those who got the chance to see her in action- she was great!

I did get the chance to order the ‘Afternoon Tea’ option which had been put together especially for the event.  It also seemed as though plenty of people who attended the event ordered the afternoon tea option, which was obviously a great sign- though the service could have been a little better because it was a shame that some items on the menu were missing when the afternoon tea was served!

This didn’t put a downer on the whole event, the actual items served tasted fab especially the cakes; they were delicious!

The cupcakes were provided by Birmingham’s finest cupcake company- Kiss Me Cupcakes and they never fail when it comes to their cakes :)

Overall the whole event was a major success and it was brilliant to actually have an event like this taking place in Birmingham. Like many events such as Buy My Wardrobe, usually events like this take place in London and it can be a hassle for those fashionista’s up north to keep up or attend so many of the capital city’s exclusive events. So, I definitely salute the whole Buy My Wardrobe team for organising this and hope another one will be returning to Birmingham.

‘Unleash Your Inner Supernova’- Bonafide Supernova hold first ever event set to spark Birmingham creative’s

On 25/03/2012 by Bonafide Supernova

On the 21st March, Bonafide Supernova team held their first ever event at The Studio Birmingham in a bid to spark enthusiasm and present a new way of networking for the modern day woman of the ‘future’.

Bonafide Supernova started in May 2011, as a blog site dedicated to young women 18-35 yrs old, who are fashion—forward, fashion trendsetting, style blazing young women; who don’t try to be something they are not, but just ‘love’ being chic & stylish. Bonafide believes this generation of young women create their own platforms to express their interests & passions online and beyond.

The event, titled ‘Unleash Your Inner Supernova’ was organised by Samantha Thodhlana (Director at YEP Media & Editor of Bonafide Supernova), in collaboration with the aspiring contributors of the Bonafide Supernova team.

The event was held at the heart of Birmingham city centre, in the trendy and chic venue- The Studio, 7 Cannon Street.  Guests were treated to a selection of canapés and wine; while they mingled and got to know each other before the main event started.

Facilitated by Bonafide Supernova & YEP Media team, the event cracked off with a speed networking session set to engage and encourage guests to ‘get to know’ each other .

Wiza Lausanne Kimbidima, The Beauty Shop UK (@TheBeautyShopUK) then set the ball rolling with an entertaining & motivational insight into being a creative thinker; not settling for second best but most of all being resolute to succeed. Her talk gave a dynamic approach to the attendees; who felt extremely inspired and enthused by her talk.

The event continued to generate a buzz with more food and drink being served as well as the ‘Rate or Slate/Date or Dodge’ section of the event- which got the room in hysteria.

During this point most guests had purchased raffle tickets in aid to support the Forgotten Vintage charity:  that supports homeless services across the city run by SIFA Fireside and Reach the People Charity. Prizes included; tickets to Midlands Fashion Designer Awards, tickets to Buy My Wardrobe taking place on Saturday 14th April, £25 Forgotten Vintage Gift Voucher & an amazing novelty cake from Birmingham’s finest- Kiss Me Cupcakes plus many more splendid give-aways.

Bonafide Supernova chose Forgotten Vintage to be its main charity for the next year and will continue to support their cause throughout 2012; so please prolong to also support them in their charitable causes. At Unleash Your Inner Supernova event we managed to rise over £70 through raffle and we had the pleasure of a few guests donating items of clothing.

Samantha Thodhlana said, “I believe you need to have passion for what you do and enjoy what you do. The best thing to accomplish as an entrepreneur is to know what you love, share your passion, knowledge and creative spark with other like-minded people and then all that’s left to do is present your own unique style. This first Bonafide Supernova event was the first of many events to come and eventually I’d love to create an international ‘Supernova’ network of the women of tomorrow!”

Feedback from those who attended the event found Unleash Your Inner Supernova an exciting opportunity to network and gain advice from other like-minded individuals/ professionals who have accomplished or are in the process of achieving many things.

Overall, Unleash Your Inner Supernova enabled guests to network, share tips and learn from each other but in a fun and fabulous environment- filled with food, drink and lots of ‘sugary’ goodies.

The next event will be taking place on May 23rd, once again at The Studio, Birmingham; so watch out for the promo material going out very soon.
